We now know BPS is going, and much faster than expected. The first £30,000 of the annual payments are taking a modest 5% cut this year (2021) with a 15% year on year cut reaching a 50% reduction by 2024. The cuts get deeper as the claim size increases.

The Environmental Land Management Scheme (ELMs) will plug the gap for some, but it’s likely that this will focus on areas of special environmental interest such as chalk downland or peat upland, or on public access.
