The Royal Military Canal
Explore one of Kent’s most fascinating landmarks and find out what the Royal Military Canal has to offer – whatever the weather or season there’ll be something to see or do along the canal.
Whether you are a hiker, an angler, a cyclist or someone who appreciates wildlife and history, this beautiful tree lined canal situated in the Kent countryside at Ham Street is a place to visit!
Stretching from Folkestone to Cliff End, the canal is approximately 14 miles (22km) in length and makes for the perfect walking destination.
The Royal Military Canal is a project supported by the Heritage Lottery to help improve understanding of and give everyone access to and enjoyment of the canal. It follows a previous Heritage Lottery Fund project on a five mile stretch of the canal through Hythe, which improved facilities and access for all.
The project is being run by the Romney Marsh Countryside Project on behalf of the White Cliffs Countryside Project.
