Woodchurch Players’ reputation for colourful and memorable pantomimes is well established – so much so that they received an award for ‘Treasure Island’ (2015) from the National Operatic and Dramatic Society.
The Players are equally ambitious when it comes to producing plays, which are performed twice a year. These have ranged from ‘Charley’s Aunt’ to ‘Billy Liar’; ‘The Accrington Pals’ to ‘She Stoops to Conquer’.
More recently, the Players joined the Kent Drama Association and now participate in their Full-Length Play Festival. This has resulted in the Players winning awards for the technical achievement of their production of ‘A Matter of Life and Death'(2015). Ultimately, this has raised the Players’ profile on a wider scale and has enabled closer links with neighbouring amateur dramatic groups.
The group provides a wide range of opportunities for everybody to get involved, many of whom work backstage and front of house as well as appear on stage!
