Littlestone
Littlestone is a small coastal village close to New Romney in Kent. It was established in the 1880s by Sir Robert Perks as a resort for the gentry, at the point of the local lifeboat station and today is an immensely popular coastal retreat with both local families and Londoners alike, due to its relaxed feel.
The beaches are vast and stretch all the way along to Dungeness (the Land’s End of the South East). Littlestone Golf Club, a highly regarded links course, is also close by.
Littlestone Road has long been regarded as one of the most favoured spots on the Kent Coast and certainly on the Romney Marsh, with well-spaced individual homes. Littlestone Beach is just a short walk from this development, where you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views over the English Channel along with seemingly never-ending walks or cycle routes in either direction.
The historic town of New Romney is close by, with its bustling high street including independent shops, a supermarket, surgeries and both primary and secondary schools.
The hilltop town of Rye is within easy reach to the southwest, and the historic town of Tenterden to the northwest. Nearby Romney Marsh countryside provides a haven for wildlife, ornithology and peaceful cycling routes. From New Romney, there is a straightforward road route via the A259 and A2070 to the major town of Ashford, with its mainline station providing high-speed trains to London St. Pancras in 38 minutes.
I can thoroughly recommend Littlestone Golf Club, which is just up the road. It's one of my favourite places in the world!
