An Exciting opportunity for a Town Planner to join the planning team of a highly regarded Property Consultancy in Ashford.

The opportunity would suit someone with two to five years PQE in a consultancy, housebuilder or local authority working towards or recently qualified (MRTPI).

  • We would consider full-time or part-time applicants.
  • Flexible working considered.
  • Knowledge of Kent/East Sussex preferred.
  • Must be able to work independently and in time, develop own casework but supported by experienced planners and consultants.

The Role

Work in a well-established and experienced property and planning consultancy, managing a wide and diverse range of client instructions, and working alongside the property and development teams. Clients range from housebuilders to universities, developers to private investors, rural owners to commercial businesses.

You will work as part of a team and be involved in projects of varying sizes and planning issues.

Hobbs Parker are a well-established multi-disciplinary firm of Chartered Surveyors, Planners, Auctioneers and Estate Agents based in Ashford, Kent. We operate one of the largest livestock markets in the South East, in addition to a successful car auction business and well-established local estate and letting agency. You will act as an ambassador for the firm, promoting its services when opportunities arise.

We are looking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic graduate or recently qualified surveyor to join our dynamic team of chartered surveyors based in Ashford, Kent. We are fortunate as a firm to undertake a variety of instructions and we’re keen to help you develop your career path through our varied workload.

The Role

You will get involved in all aspects of rural surveying and a diverse range of instructions and have the opportunity to develop your skills in:

  • Valuation – you will primarily work alongside our valuation team assisting with the valuation of rural and agricultural property for a variety of purposes
  • Agricultural tenancies – assisting with lease renewals, rent reviews and lettings.
  • Compulsory purchase and compensation – assisting with works involving utilities and infrastructure schemes.
  • Environmental schemes – advising clients on the latest environmental and grant schemes and assisting with applications.
  • Planning – opportunities to work alongside our team of planning consultants
  • Development- there may be opportunities to work alongside our successful development consultancy
  • Renewables- there may be opportunities to assist with negotiations through to option and lease agreements

About You

You will be a graduate working towards your APC or a recently qualified surveyor (up to 2 years post qualification experience) with a passion for rural property and a drive to build client relationships and contribute towards the growth and success of the surveying team.  A basic knowledge of farming is advantageous.

There is scope within the business to grow and develop your career for the longer term.

The role will involve travel and therefore a full driving licence and own vehicle is essential.

I was told to contact you with my inquiry; I am 24 years old with an established sales background in Media and the Motor Trade. I have worked for the Kent Messenger since 2007 having previously joined Lipscomb Volvo as a Trainee Sales Consultant at 18 in 2003.

I am interested in exploring the possibility of a career working for a professional Auctioneers, I have a natural flair which lends itself well to my current sales position and very strong communication skills.

I am passionate about cars particularly classic cars which led me to make this enquiry, however seeing the vast portfolio of Hobbs Parker I would be interested in finding out more about every area.
