Classic Car and Motorcycle Auction Report – 25 October 2019
Sale report and prices from our Autumn 2019 auction.
Our Autumn Classic Car Auction approached with much interest and trepidation.
It was a full day of selling at Hobbs Parker with our model railway and steam engine auction kicking off the day at 10am.
We started the car auction with twelve miscellaneous lots including many Mini new old stock parts and Jaguar wire wheels, bidding was furious for these and proved a big draw and interesting addition to the sale. The Mini parts collectively made £4,653 whilst the Hamper and wheels achieved £341 and £748 respectively.
You can see several photos from the day on our dedicated Facebook Page.
I am very excited to announce that due to demand we will hold three Classic car auctions in 2020, in March, July and October.
Auction Highlights
We had a diverse list of entries with bidders equally as keen for the selection of aircooled Volkswagens as the double decker routemaster bus.
Here are some notable highlights.
1951 MG TD
This car had been holed up in West Hampstead garage since 1978 with a timber frame built around it, we promoted this car in Hobbs Parker main reception for a fortnight before the auction, it achieved £9,460 including buyers premium on the day.
1936 Rover 12
Made £10.450 on the day and amazingly goes off to be pressed into service as the new owners everyday car.
1967 AEC Routemaster double decker bus
Achieved £27,500 including buyers premium, it was the first Routemaster we have offered, these vehicles are very popular as promotional and wedding vehicles and I’m hoping to have more soon.
Kia Elan
An extremely rare car and a piece of Kia’s heritage the car was once owned by Kia UK until they sold it in the late 90’s, we sold it back to Kia UK so it went home as it achieved £10,230 including buyers premium and will be featured in Auto Express and Autocar magazine over the coming weeks.
Porsche 356 Speedster
A very attractive Porsche 356 Speedster by Chesil reached £24,620 and was probably the most photographed car of the sale.
1970 Volkswagen 1500
This had been with its current owner since 1977 reached £7,150 whilst the 1972 Volkswagen Variant Squareback achieved £6,270 after being in storage since 2004. A 1988 MK1 Golf GTI Convertible that needed tidying here and there but displaying low mileage achieved £5,170.
