Cull Ewes and Rams
1080 sold
Report on trade: A large entry with almost 1100 ewes on offer, almost double last weeks entry, due mainly to the impeding Muslim festival and a wet Monday allowing the local farmers to have a chance to sort some ewes. Ewes were a slightly improved trade despite the drop in average price which was due to the large percentage of leaner sorts in the pens.
Best continental ewes sold to £90 and a slightly improved trade for cull rams pushed these up to £100. Several buyers were present for the leaner sorts on offer to farm on until after christmas and these sorts traded between £30 and £58. Please advise us of any large consignments of ewes over the coming weeks.
Top prices included continental ewes to £90 from Bocketts Farm, Suffolk crosses to £87 from M Woodroofe, Mules to £68 from David Clarke Farms and Romneys to £74.50 from A & A Barr Farms. Rams to £100 from D P Isaac.
