Sales Report – Friday 13th December

Store sheep 4,332 – sold

Auctioneers: John Rossiter 07557 392903 & James Cook-O’Connell 07712246474.

Report on trade: A bigger than expected sale took place with almost 5,000 lambs on offer for the curtain closer of the season, with many extra lambs that were entered late as producers were keen to move them on before the Christmas period. A packed ring of buyers were present from the very beginning of the sale, a very refreshing feeling after the tribulations of this year’s selling restrictions. The trade was hot with prices really taking a lift in recent weeks and many pens of store lambs were well over £100 hd and topped at £130 hd for strong lambs from Kent Life. Overall, the better end of the lambs would average about £105 hd with the overall average at £94 hd to include all sorts. Runs of note include 250 Suffolk cross Mule lambs from H J Hecks & Sons which averaged £110 and topped at £123, also a strong run of Charollais lambs from John Hall topped at £128 and averaged £113 hd. We will now be offering stores on all Tuesdays and these will be sold immediately after the finished lambs.
