Breeding Rams and Females

The South Eastern Texel Groups Show & Sale was well supported by members with 41 sheep sold on the day. Judge James Bull’s difficult task made all the harder by the current restrictions being imposed meaning that stock were only able to be judged in the pens.

We would like to thank all vendors and purchasers for their cooperation during these difficult times.

Judge’s champion and 1st place ewe was awarded to J Warnock & Son for a tremendous March 2019 born ewe teg which sold for £430 to new breeder S P Howland, Canterbury. Second prize ewe was also awarded to the same vendor and sold for £380 to the judge. Reserve Champion and 1st ram teg was awarded to Mr J Boomars (Vexour flock) for a March 2019 born teg with the hammer eventually falling at £780 and selling to Mr J Pearce, Canterbury with second prize in the ram class was awarded to Gaynes Park Farms for a February born teg which sold for £579 to R Brown, Stockbury.

The ram lamb class was won by Poppinghole Farm with a February 2020 born lamb which sold for £200 and the same vendor also claimed the second prize in this class again selling for £200 to Mr N Page. The best pen was won by Mr J Boomars (Vexour flock) with a powerful pen of ram tegs which sold to a high of £800 and averaged £562.86.
