Top price per head: £135 – W G Vant & Sons

A small entry of seasonal sheep to follow the Christmas weekend. Trade was similar to last week with the best end of the lambs a touch dearer in the lump but not the same quality on offer as last week in the terms of p kg. Top spot on the day was taken at £135 hd for some super Texel crosses from W G Vant & Sons with Miss Georgia Jackson taking second place at £132 hd. This week can be a difficult one to predict the trade and it would be fair to say that the trade was similar to last week in the run up to Christmas with hopes for a good demand over the NYE celebrations. Export types were in short supply with many selling from 255-275p kg and to a top price of 277p kg form M R Woodroofe.

Smaller numbers following the festive weekend with a good trade all round. Best ewes regularly £90-£110 and to a top price of £123 from A Denning for his millennium blue ewes. Medium sorts £70-£90 on most occasions with leaners sorts £50-£65 of which there were very few on offer.
