Sheep Sales Reports

New Season Lambs – 1,371 Sold

Auctioneer: John Rossiter 07557 392903

Top price per kilo – 368p – G H Dean & Co, Kent.
Top price per head – £190.00 – C & J Georgetti & Sons, Kent.

A few less penned which certainly helped to boost the trade of the better finished sorts. Leaner grass-fed types were selling to a similar level this week in the £105-£120 price bracket which will be just ahead of the store price anticipations, in my opinion. Better lambs found a bigger premium today, as there was just less about, and as numbers around the country also tighten up. The two runs of the day that really stood out were from C & J Georgetti & Sons and G H Dean & Co with the former selling almost 250 lambs to average £172 head. What a run of lambs they were, and a real credit to the producers. G H Dean & Co sold a more Beltex based entry of handy weights which topped at 368p kg, closely followed by C A Worley Farming Ltd at 366p kg for her superbly shaped Beltex lambs.
Trade may just sharpen up a little in the coming weeks as numbers will tighten up.
