James Cook O’Connell ALAA

Livestock Auctioneer

I feel very lucky to follow in the footsteps of so many respected auctioneers at Hobbs Parker

I have always wanted to be a Livestock Auctioneer, and now I have got the chance to be one. I seem to enjoy it more and more every day.

I grew up on a family livestock farm in Canterbury, where I would work before and after school, and after completing a Level 3 Diploma in Agriculture at Hadlow College, I went on to work on the family farm full-time before I approached Hobbs Parker Auctioneers for a job opportunity.

I now keep a flock of sheep of my own and have grown into the role in Ashford Market, where I appreciate the opportunity that I have been given to progress within the industry.

I am an Associate of the Livestock Auctioneers Association and am studying a course in Livestock Market Operations and Management at Harper Adams University College, which I will complete in my spare time alongside my roles in the market.

It's rare to see such commitment and enthusiasm in someone so young and new to our profession. James has made an excellent start to his auctioneering career and is already a trusted member of our team.
