Sheep Sales Report
New Season Lambs –880 sold.
Auctioneer: John Rossiter 07557 392903
Top Price Per Kilo – 385p – Miss Amy Hedges, East Sussex.
Top Price Per Head – £212.00 – D Isaac & Holly Chandler, Kent.
Again, a small entry of finished lambs but the quality and finish of those on offer was very good again this week, with a number of people now feeding coming to market with lambs that have been fed as a result of the lack of grazing in July and September.
Well fed sheep are at a premium price above the mid range types and many are selling from 350-370p/kg and even higher in the lighter weight brackets and topped today at 385p/kg by Miss Amy Hedges, a nice birthday gift for the vendor. Sheep are heavier now as a rule following the feeding and more pens at 50kg+ were on offer but the tremendous quality we have seen can still bring the best prices with the best from Dylan and Holly topping at £212/hd, with others from David Wade and C Koralty also breaking the £200 barrier. Can these prices sustain? That’s the question many are asking, but in the run up to Christmas with numbers likely to be tight it would suggest that we can, however big percentages of heavy sheep all fit at the same time will potentially have an impact, so please inform us of what you wish to send in advance.
