WHAT A TRADE.
We have never seen prices like this in the store ring. The last sale was a record, and this sale smashed it by £8 per head in the averages. Genuinely the strongest demand I have ever seen for lambs, even in comparison to the boom times of Spring 2024.  All manner of sheep over £120, topping at £145 from G L Boulden & Sons and the whole entry, with every lamb included, averaged £124. Several finishers that were around the ring have certainly been diagnosed with a severe case of “grass fever” and many of these went home empty handed once again. Were they right and those who did purchase were wrong? Who knows? We will find out the answers in the spring of 2026, but I have a feeling that many of these late season buyers will open their buying books a bit earlier in the season next year…..

These are genuine store prices, with none of the below going to slaughter.

Romneys to £127 from Langdon Farms

Suffolk crosses to £145 from G L Boulden & Sons

Texel Crosses to £139 from L Stevens & Sons

Charollais Cross to £138 from R Horsman

Crossbreds to £138 from Keith Bugden
