Top price: – £131 head – Homewood School YFC
Certainly, a tougher feeling this week but we have come back down to earth somewhat since the highs of the trade earlier in the season. We are now into Autumn; it had not rained until the night before the sale which was too late for many buyers to consider buying lambs this week and the finished lamb trade has taken a downturn. None of this will fill you with confidence when buying store lambs, but it definitely makes you want to sell store lambs…. which we all must remember when we are a little disappointed that trade has not stayed at the dizzy heights of the point we began at this season.
The more forward stores are still well over £100 head generally and often over £115 head for the bigger of the lambs on offer. Middle of the road stores were trading form £88-100 with Romney wethers generally trading in the £80-90 bracket and topping at £89.50 from J Saunders & Sons.
Good interest in the ewe tegs with Suffolk x Mules from Patrick Smith to £223.
