Report on trade: Another cracking trade for store lambs saw prices slightly up on the week to average a very favourable £68.40. Any lambs with flesh sold in excess of £80 with Texel crosses up to £84 from J E Wickens and R H Kingston and strong Suffolk x Mule wethers £84 from E W & R E Hanks. Best stores sold readily around £75 and only small long keeping lambs below £60.
An increased entry of Romney wethers sold well to £70 and up to £73.20 from Collick & Sons.
The first entry of breeding sheep for the season looked well sold. 500 ewe tegs and flock aged ewes were penned and plenty of buyer interest can be reported.
J Taylor’s Suffolk x Mules made to £137, Church Street Farms Beltex crosses made to £150 and a run of Texel x Romney flock aged ewes made to £81.
