Report on trade: Confidence was running high around the store lamb ring with recent improvement in the finished market and an abundance of keep particularly in the West Country. Best stores sold readily in excess of £75 and topping at £81.20 for a pen of Texel Cross from C H Ellis Ltd whose run of £64.40 averaged in excess of £70, medium store around £65 and only long keeping lambs below £55. Although a big percentage in the Romney section were small lambs the best attracted prices around £65 and up to £69.20 from Ashby Farms and ewe lambs to £71 from C P Apps.
Store lambs now sold every Tuesday following sale of finished lambs. If you have store to sell you would be advised to take advantage of the current strong prices.
