1,883 Sold

Auctioneer: John Rossiter 07557 392903

Report on trade: A good entry of both ewe and lamb couples and breeding ewe tegs were on offer in the annual spring sale with just under 2,000 head of sheep sold. Trade was as strong as we have seen it for the couples with a number of farmers wanting to secure stock as grass has become abundant all of a sudden. Many of these prospective purchasers didn’t even manage to get a bid in as couples topped at £84.80 per life for some strong Beltex cross ewe and lambs from J Lukehurst. Another pen of note were from Mrs V McDonald which sold to £201 for 45 Texel cross ewes with 90 lambs at foot (£66 per life).

The annual consignment from Tim and Nicky Beesley of almost 400 ewes sold to £162 and averaged £59.

Breeding ewe tegs sold to £108 from G R Weller and £103 from G & H Bates both selling Romneys.
