Lambs and Breeding Sheep

1,852 Sold

Auctioneer: John Rossiter 07557 392903

Report on trade: Over 1,000 ewe and lamb couples were on offer in this now annual spring sale of breeding sheep. Trade was as good as anticipated reflecting the new level of prices we have seen in recent months. Ewe and lamb couples have sold for £70 to £80 per life on regular occasions recently.

This sale was no different with the trade being very much in line with these figures but with sheep selling to a top price of £218 per outfit from Lloyd Barret for Suffolk cross ewes with twins at foot. Another run of note was from Beslee Farms which sold to average over £80 life for older Romney and Texel Cross ewes with continental lambs at foot.  Top price per life was taken by J Lukehurst once again this year with some strong continental ewes with lambs at foot selling to £92 per life.

Just a handful of ewe tegs were on offer which sold to £142 for some Suffolk crosses from Miss J Biddle and to £136 for Romneys from G L Boulden & Sons.
