Quite a contrast to recent years with a ring full of potential customers keen to purchase ewe tegs !! with demand very strong throughout the sale for all grades. Sheep have summered well and whilst quality was good throughout there were few of the very best amongst the North Country Mules or the Suffolk x Mules.

Best of the North Country Mules made up over £150 selling to £168 from Brodie Farms, £165 D W Page & Son and £164 R & W Brown. With few sold under £130 we can say with certainty more are wanted to satisfy current demand levels.

Suffolk x Mules sold readily above £130 with head pens topping £140. Top returns £144 Dan Mackelden Ltd, £143 E W & R E Hanks, £140 D Venner and £140 N H Burrows. Again only a few under £120.

Good white face tegs were wanted too with good Lleyn tegs from H J Skinner to £140 and Texel x Romneys  from Link Bros to £130.

The breeding ewes penned (and sold though the ring) met strong demand from buyers. The main consignment was a flock reduction from J & M Carr whose young Mules and Suffolk x Mules both made to £85. Good mid aged Texel x Romneys made £85 from Mrs V M D McDonald and a pen of Suffolk x Mules from Miss K Tucker
