On the 29th June 2010 the government announced its plans for replacing Regional Development Agencies such as SEEDA with Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs).  They invited local groups of councils and business leaders to come forward with proposals on how they would form LEPs and received 56 bids by the deadline of the 6th September.
