The Hobbs Parker Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Jon Rimmer as the company’s new Chairman.  Jon will take over from Richard Wood who, after 30 years with the company, is due to retire later this year.  Although Richard will be spending more time away from the offices, he will be undertaking some consultancy work and so will remain a familiar face at livestock auctions through 2011.

Bank Holiday Car Auction - Some Special Entries

The first Bank Holiday Auction will soon be with us and the entry list is gathering pace!

We have just had these two extremely interesting lots provisionally entered:

  • A locally owned 2001 Rolls Royce Silver Sereph done 38,000 miles. £45,000 - £50,000.
  • An early (1978) Ferrari 308. £10,000 - £12,000

The sale is on Bank Holiday Monday 3rd May from 11.00am and we will hopefully have 400 - 500 vehicles including Sports and High Performance, Four Wheel Drive, General Cars and Commercials.

Entries accepted until 7.00pm Sunday 2nd May.

Scrappage Scheme comes to an end - Car Auctions continue to thrive.

We all know someone who has traded in their battered old banger under the government’s scrappage scheme and is now driving around in a shiny new car, happy at the thought of ‘saving’ £2,000.

According to government reports, the scheme has been a huge success, pumping nearly £400 million into the beleaguered car industry and removing over 370,000 fume-polluting cars from the environment.

But the scheme has had other affects too, not least in the second-hand car market.  Suddenly there’s a real shortage of quality used cars and a dearth of the old run-arounds that were perfect for newly qualified and first-time drivers.
