Appledore, a pretty little village was once a port on the Rother Estuary and is now a friendly farming community. It has a lovely 13th century church which houses the annual Festival of Flowers and the mediaeval houses and forge on The Street all add to the charm of the village.

A daily bus service runs to Ashford (not Sundays) and there is a bus to Rye on Thursdays and one to Tenterden on Fridays, market days. The Royal Military Canal runs through Appledore providing excellent walks and fishing by day tickets.
