Appledore, a pretty little village was once a port on the Rother Estuary and is now a friendly farming community. It has a lovely 13th century church which houses the annual Festival of Flowers and the mediaeval houses and forge on The Street all add to the charm of the village.
A daily bus service runs to Ashford (not Sundays) and there is a bus to Rye on Thursdays and one to Tenterden on Fridays, market days. The Royal Military Canal runs through Appledore providing excellent walks and fishing by day tickets. Appledore has two churches and many organisations including WI, Good Companions, a Football Club, Gardening Club, Mother and Toddler, History Club, Riding Association, Bell Ringers and Short Mat Bowls.
