The pretty village of Ruckinge stands on high ground bordering Romney Marsh and a belt of woodland divides the parish into Upper and Lower Ruckinge. The Royal Military Canal runs through the lower part of the parish offering good coarse fishing.

The charming old church has a fine Norman Tower and dates back to 1549. The family run Blue Anchor pub serves hot food and a warm welcome and dates back to 1765 when it had a close association with gangs of local smugglers! The old school is now well used as the village hall where Bring and Buy Sales are just one of the well supported
