Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPO) & Compensation

Our Rural Professional Services team undertakes all aspects of professional work.

Compulsory purchase and compensation issues are a particular strength of the Department.

The Channel Tunnel Rail Link

The Channel Tunnel Rail Link is the Scheme still at the forefront of the minds of the residents of Ashford and the surrounding area. With the line up and running, and most of the essential project now completed, we are still heavily involved in the Link, acting for the majority of the agricultural landowners from the Medway to the coast, together with various commercial and residential property owners. If you are experiencing any problems let us know. We are likely to have come across them before and may well have a resolution.

We also Specialise in Other Compulsory Purchase Situations

We deal with all Highway Schemes, from bridge widenings and road improvements to new highways altogether, the two most major of these in the Ashford area in recent years being the M20 and the A2070 (Hamstreet By-Pass). In addition, utility companies often approach our clients in connection with laying, renewing or maintaining pipelines, cables and associated structures. We can negotiate easement and disturbance claims with the Acquiring Authority on your behalf as well as ensuring that accommodation works and correct working practices are in place whilst the Authority is occupying your property. There are numerous other situations which arise, where an Authority having compulsory purchase powers is not involved, but where you still may be entitled to compensation. For example, we have dealt with cases in connection with environmental or heritage designations placed upon your land, loss of crop through incidences of 3rd party pollution and loss of business through obstruction of access. If you are in a situation where you feel you have suffered a financial loss give us a call.
