The historic village of Lympne stands on the crest of a hill above the Royal Military Canal and the Saxon shore fort of Port Lemains, straddling the Roman Road of Stone Street.
The area is steeped in history with its Medieval church and castle. Located on the escarpment in an area of outstanding natural beauty just outside the village is Port Lympne - the late John Aspinall’s famous wildlife park with its unique breeding colony of Przewalski horses from Mongolia and gorilla colony.
There is a thriving village community and the local primary school has been highlighted as a centre of excellence in recent Ofsted reports. Among the local clubs are Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Sunday School and football for the children. For the adults there is badminton, lace making, aerobics and short-mat bowls.
Shepway District Council’s Mobile Information Service visits the village every Thursday morning. There are bus services to the Cinque Ports town of Hythe and to Ashford with its wide range of educational, shopping and leisure facilities.
